It was a big jump going from KS3 to GCSE and I didn’t know what to expect, but their support put me at ease and it gave me the confidence to achieve. I couldn’t be more thankful for the support and opportunities I’ve had at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent.”
Anita is off to Pangbourne College in Berkshire following her success in her GCSEs. Anita, who commuted from Nottingham during Year 11, having moved from Hanley, will be studying English Literature, Psychology and Politics. Anita said: “The staff at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent do everything that they can for us and to accommodate our needs. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had and I’ve really felt seen and valued at the Academy.”
Faisal, from Cobridge, achieved an impressive set of results, including a grade 9 in English Literature. He will be starting at Kingswood School in Bath in September where he will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics with hopes to go onto study Medicine at university. He said: “The teachers here have been incredible, every school has good teachers but ours have gone above and beyond. Words can’t describe how much I appreciate them.”
Headteacher, Shane Richardson, said “We are all delighted that three of our Year 11 students have secured scholarships to study at some of the country's top independent schools at post-16. These are all incredible institutions and continue a now established tradition at our academy of students leaving us to study at world-class schools.
When we established our Scholars' Programme in 2019, it had one objective: it was to ensure our students, who are as talented and capable as the very best anywhere, got the opportunities to match. This is now something that we do routinely. Congratulations to them and we wish them, like all of our students, the very best.”
