CAS Racing Club Shines at Greenpower Heats

Our CAS Racing Club travelled to the legendary Aintree racecourse to compete in the latest Greenpower heats, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students. The team arrived with the car they had designed and built as part of their CAS Racing elective.

The morning brought treacherous conditions with heavy rain, but the team's spirits remained high. The sun broke through just in time for the races, providing a perfect backdrop for the team to show what they could do.

The races were a great success. The team drove well, securing a fantastic 8th place finish in the first race and improving to an outstanding 6th place in the second. Everyone was incredibly proud of their effort and skill, which showcased the fantastic teamwork that embodies our value of Succeed Together. Mrs Caning,  who led the visit, was incredibly proud of our team, saying: "The students were a credit to the academy, showing determination and resilience, and putting their knowledge learnt during extracurricular sessions into practice."

This elective, run by our Creative Technology Faculty, is just one example of how we encourage students to explore their passions. As Ms Williamson shared, "Our electives are a perfect way for students to really engage with the value of Be Yourself, Always. They provide a space for our young people to discover and develop their unique interests and talents, and to grow in confidence in a supportive environment."

A huge thank you to Mrs Canning and Mr Parsons for accompanying the students on the trip, and to Mr Brundrett and Mr Parkes for running the club.
