Inspiring Inclusion: IRIS Prize Event
It was a busy end to the term last week, and a group of our students had the fantastic opportunity to visit Angel Square for the IRIS Prize event. It was an incredibly inspiring day focused on the importance of diversity and storytelling, and our students got a huge amount out of the experience.
The day was led by the founder of the prize, who shared some powerful insights into why representing different voices and backgrounds is so vital in today’s world. There were some really thought-provoking discussions about what it means to be truly seen and the impact that has on our sense of belonging. It wasn't just about the big messages, though. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the screenings and, of course, the popcorn that went with them!
Events like this are so important for opening up conversations about inclusion. They remind our students that everyone’s story matters and that feeling represented is a huge part of feeling like you have a place in the community. Seeing them engage so thoughtfully with the films and the speakers was a real highlight, and they represented the Academy brilliantly.
It was a day that really hit home how much we value every individual’s journey, and we are grateful to the IRIS Prize team for hosting such a memorable session.
