Hanley Bound: Year 11 Prep for College

A group of our Year 11 students had a great day out in Hanley last Friday. This wasn't just a typical school trip; it was a chance for them to practise the independent travel skills they will need when they head off to college this September.
Navigating the journey to the city centre is a big part of gaining the confidence and independence required for life after secondary school. While they were there, the group visited The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery. They spent time exploring the local history in the Spitfire Gallery and watched a series of vintage films in the museum theatre. It was a fantastic way to combine practical life skills with a bit of local culture.
Ms Williamson, Assistant Headteacher and Careers Lead, noted the importance of these experiences:
It was wonderful to hear how the students stepped out of their comfort zones and navigated the city with such confidence. These trips are vital for building the self-reliance they will need as they prepare for life after Year 11.
We are really proud of the maturity the group showed throughout the day. They are definitely proving they are ready for their next chapter.
