Careers-Focused Visit to BT Birmingham
We are pleased to share the experience our Key Stage 3 students had on their recent visit to the BT offices in Birmingham. This trip was a valuable part of our ongoing careers programme, designed to inspire students and introduce them to the possibilities within the world of technology.
We selected a group of students who have consistently demonstrated strong engagement and enthusiasm in their Creative Technologies lessons. Their interest in innovation made them excellent representatives for our school on this visit.
Upon arrival, the BT building itself made an immediate impression. It's a modern and dynamic space that reflects the advanced work conducted there. Our students were interested in the state-of-the-art facilities and the collaborative atmosphere. They had the opportunity to observe real-world applications of concepts they are learning in class, from advanced network infrastructure to innovative digital solutions.
The visit focused significantly on careers, and the students gained insights into the diverse roles available within a global technology company like BT. They heard from professionals in various fields, learning about their career journeys, the skills required, and the impact their work has on connecting people and businesses. They also took part in an exciting Dragon’s Den style activity, showcasing their own designs and putting them forward to be judged. It was an educational experience that provided a clear link between their classroom learning and potential future career paths.
We are proud of how our students conducted themselves throughout the visit. Their curiosity and insightful questions left a positive impression on our hosts at BT. This experience will likely enhance their interest in technology and help shape their aspirations as they continue their education.
This visit underscores our commitment to providing students with meaningful careers education, offering them the tools and inspiration to explore their potential. We look forward to seeing how this experience influences their learning journey and future choices. Perhaps we have the next generation of tech innovators and leaders among them.
