Leading the Way: Year 7 Eco Projects Champion Our Community
Our Year 7 students have been proving that you are never too young to make a real difference. During tutor time, each group was tasked with designing an eco-project to improve the environment both within the Academy and across our local area. It has been inspiring to see the variety of ideas they’ve come up with, all driven by a genuine desire to look after the world around them.
The energy and community spirit shown by the students were fantastic. We saw 7GT leading a thorough litter pick of the Academy grounds, while 7RL did a brilliant job focusing on our internal environment by ensuring recycling boxes were added to all staff workrooms. We were also joined for our special prize-giving on Friday by the team from TS Domestics, who are on a mission to "Make Tunstall Great Again." They shared some truly inspiring words about taking pride in our town, and it was great to hear that some of our students are already volunteering their own time to help them with their community work.
The competition was tough, but we are delighted to announce our winners. A huge well done to 7SNA, who took second place for their brilliant tree-planting project. The top spot went to 7BH, who impressed everyone with their dedicated litter pick down at Westport Lake.
Ms. Williamson, Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development, was incredibly proud of how the year group embraced the challenge. She said: "These projects are such a brilliant example of our values, 'Succeed Together' and 'Show You Care,' in action. Seeing our youngest students take such pride in their local area and work so well as a team is exactly what we want to see. They are setting a great example for the rest of the school."
