National Memorial Arboretum Visit Concludes Remembrance 2025

We are pleased to report on this year's visit to the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA), which served as a deeply moving conclusion to our remembrance activities. This trip has become an important part of our school year, giving students a crucial opportunity to engage directly with the powerful history of service and sacrifice in the UK.

The students chosen for the visit were selected because of their consistently fantastic attitude to learning. Their behaviour at the NMA was exemplary and showed deep respect, fitting the solemn nature of the site perfectly.

They explored the extensive grounds and its over 400 memorials with great care, focusing on key areas like the Armed Forces Memorial. They absorbed the stories of dedication and duty represented throughout the Arboretum.

It was particularly rewarding to watch the students interact with the site's guides. They asked thoughtful, genuinely mature questions, showing a clear desire to understand the human side of the memorials. The guides and staff accompanying them were thoroughly impressed by their polite inquiry.

Ms. Williamson, Assistant Headteacher, spoke about the deeper value of the visit: "The NMA offers more than just history; it's a vital lesson in citizenship. Watching our young people reflect on these sacrifices reinforces the core British values of respect, tolerance, and individual liberty."

She concluded, "Understanding the price paid for these freedoms is fundamental for our students. Their excellent conduct truly highlighted the profound impact of this experience."

We are extremely proud of their maturity and commitment to remembrance. This visit successfully brought their classroom learning to life, creating an unforgettable experience. Finally, we extend our sincerest thanks to Mrs Tatton for organising the visit, and to Ms Aitken and Mrs Toon for providing support to the students throughout the day.
