One Change: RE Leaders Bring the Community Together
This month, our Student RE Leaders have been busy leading a brilliant new project called "One Change" to mark both Ramadan and Lent. It’s a rare and special occasion to have both holy seasons happening at the same time, and our leaders wanted to use this as a chance for the whole Academy to stop and reflect.
With the support of Mrs. McDermott, the RE Leaders asked students and staff to share their ideas for just "one change" they could make in their lives. The suggestions flooded in—everything from being more helpful at home to cutting down on social media or being more mindful of others. It’s been great to see everyone getting involved and thinking about how small, personal goals can make a big difference to our school community.
Mrs. McDermott, who oversees the RE Leaders and helped them coordinate the initiative, said:
"It is really special that Lent and Ramadan are coinciding at the moment. The RE Leaders and I were overwhelmed by the wonderful contributions we received from staff and students. It was amazing to see such thoughtful reflections and how powerful small changes can be."
It’s been a fantastic reminder of the values we all share, like kindness and self-discipline, and it was a real credit to our RE Leaders for leading the way with such maturity.
