Spreading Kindness with Year 7 Time4Change Project

Our Year 7 students have been busy making a real difference in the Academy this term by taking part in the Co-op Academies Trust Time4Change social action project. The scheme encourages students to identify an issue they care about and take practical steps to tackle it, and our Year 7s decided they wanted to focus entirely on promoting kindness.

Throughout the project, the students have been working closely with our Academy Community Pioneer, Mrs Barnett, to develop and launch their ideas. Together, they introduced a system of "kindness cards" which have been rolled out across the entire year group. The cards are a simple but effective way for students to recognise and celebrate positive actions, supportive behaviour, and everyday acts of kindness among their peers.

The initial trial of the project has been incredibly successful, creating a really positive buzz across the year group. Because it went so well, the students are now preparing to take their ideas to the next level. They will be presenting their project at the grand finals at Angel Square, which is a massive achievement and a fantastic opportunity to showcase their hard work.

Taking part in social action projects like Time4Change is incredibly important for our younger students. It gets them thinking about how they can positively influence the world around them, and it provides the perfect preparation for the major First Give programme they will be taking on next year in Year 8.

We are so proud of the maturity, empathy, and leadership our Year 7s have shown throughout this project. Well done to everyone involved, a big thank you to Mrs Barnett, and the absolute best of luck to the team as they head to the finals!
