This is My Place: Celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week
This week, the Academy has been buzzing with activity as we marked Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme this year, "This is My Place," has been at the heart of everything we’ve done, focusing on the vital role that a sense of belonging plays in our mental health and wellbeing.
We know that feeling like you truly fit in—whether that's in your friendships, in school, or in the wider community—is a basic human need. When we feel that we belong, it empowers us to contribute to the world and makes a massive difference in our physical and mental health.
To help bring that sense of community to life, we’ve been hosting "conversation tables" during lunch throughout the week. Our Year 9 Wellbeing Ambassadors were instrumental in making this happen, helping to facilitate a welcoming space where students from all year groups could sit down, chat, and connect. It was brilliant to see them championing the event and ensuring that everyone felt they had a place at the table.
The conversation continued through focused assemblies and tutor time, where we explored how a strong sense of belonging helps us thrive in our education and our relationships. It’s been a powerful week that has reinforced our culture of looking out for one another and making sure every student knows that the Academy is a place where they belong.
