We are thrilled to announce that our academy has been awarded the prestigious Music Mark of Recognition for Dedication & Improvement! This certificate is a fantastic external validation of our commitment to embedding high-quality, inclusive, and consistent music education for all our students. The award recognizes that we understand the vital importance of music education and are dedicated to finding ways to embed consistent and inclusive provision.
Our commitment is evident in the broad opportunities we provide, such as offering free peripatetic music lessons to any student eligible for Free School Meals, effectively removing financial barriers to instrumental tuition. Our talented students regularly showcase their skills, too; the recent success of our Academy Band performing at the Prize Evening at the Regent Theatre and the fantastic performances by the Musical Theatre Club in their production of Matilda the Musical are brilliant examples of the confidence, teamwork, and artistic growth fostered through our arts programmes.
Ms. Williamson, Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development, commented on the achievement:
“This recognition shows our strong belief that the arts are vital. Music education helps students grow personally, teaching them discipline, creativity, and self-expression—skills they’ll use their whole lives.”
We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Ward, Head of Music, whose passion, dedication, and leadership have been instrumental in securing this award and in fostering such a vibrant and inclusive music department. This Music Mark reflects the hard work of our staff and the incredible passion and dedication of our students as we continue to nurture creativity and excellence in music.
