Creative Writing Workshop Celebrates Stoke’s Story

As part of the Stoke Centenary celebrations, a group of our students took part in a creative writing workshop at Keele University, exploring the city’s heritage through fiction and imagination.

The session challenged students to write a 100-word story in a short space of time—no small task—but they rose to it brilliantly. Each story will now be considered for inclusion in a special centenary anthology, with final selections to be announced in the autumn term.

The students were an absolute credit to the Academy, showing focus, creativity and resilience throughout the day. They approached the workshop—and the long walk—with enthusiasm and maturity.

This opportunity was not only a celebration of literary creativity, but also a chance to reflect on what makes Stoke special. We’re proud to see our students engaging so thoughtfully with their local identity.
