Celebrating Stoke’s Centenary: A Week of Creativity and Community Spirit
This week, our Academy came together to celebrate Stoke’s Centenary with a fantastic range of activities that showcased our students’ creativity, teamwork, and community pride.
Here’s a brief look at what we’ve been up to:
-
Creative Writing Workshop at Keele University: Students wrote inspiring 100-word stories about Stoke’s heritage, with their work now being considered for a special Centenary anthology.
-
Top Stokie Vote: Tutor groups researched notable figures from Stoke’s diverse history, and with over 800 votes cast, the final result was a thrilling tie celebrating local icons.
-
People’s Parade Participation: Our Co-op Young Leaders proudly led the Tunstall section, carrying flowers they created alongside local artists and marching with a replica of the Tunstall Clock. Despite the rain, spirits stayed high throughout the parade.
-
Family Meal Celebration: We welcomed families for a free meal, complete with quizzes and bingo, sharing great food and community warmth.
These activities have given our students a wonderful chance to connect with Stoke’s rich history and show their pride in being part of this special city.
We’re proud to have marked this important milestone with such enthusiasm and look forward to many more opportunities to celebrate and grow together.
